Changes of Pace... Not too slow, dude!

As I have previously dealt with changes in pitch, now I would like to talk about the changes of pace. Don't be mistaken, as pitch deals with loudness of voice, while pace deals with the speed of your voice.

Changes in pace of talking is usually associated to those who are fearful while delivering the speech. Under such circumstances, the speaker hopes to cover his/her fear by speaking quickly (babbling) throughout. But used correctly, it's an indispensable tool to successful public speaking. 'Be Natural' like the way you talk to your friends in ordinary conversation. Do you aware that at times, when you get too excited, your tone increases and you talk a little faster. Let's look at the following example unless you try and experiment out the differences yourself, it's like explaining red color to the color blinds:

Who else I haven't invited to my birthday party? (faster)
Oh! ya, our neighbours down the street (slower)

Now try to reverse the pattern, by trying to say the first line in a slower tempo, and the next line in a faster tempo. Try combining the word emphasis, changes in pitch and this technique in one sentence, see the differences, which one you like most and thought best? A combination of all techniques or one technique will do? How do you like it?
