Your Mind is a great mental storehouse!
Science has discovered that humans only use a fraction of their minds’ abilities, too often the rest of human potentials/capabilities go buried with them in grave. Walk down the street you are living, and you’ll notice that some houses are occupied while others are vacant, likewise our mental storehouse can be that of the occupied house or end up like the vacant unit if we don’t store up enough positive thoughts in it. Mind up, negative thought an equally be stored but with an opposite effect. The latter is capable of turning a wealthy man into a poverty-stricken beggar, a sane man to suicide and a joyful man to depression. Such is the power of thought!
How do you cultivate the power of mind? Enough books have been written on such a vast subject that could fill an entire library, but all the findings or information accumulated is just at the tip of an iceberg. However, let us limit the subject within the public speaking scope.
‘In man speaks God’ said Hesiod, through observation of the seeing eyes, we can learn a great deal of lessons. That’s right, just by observing the nature! Have you ever marveled at the awesome wonders of God’s creations? Look at the sky, the cotton-soft clouds, the beautiful lilies around you that can’t even be compared to that of Solomon’s and the beautiful landscape that no landscaper could ever build. Learn through observation and see through the observing eyes, and that hidden treasure is to be discovered.
The next time whether you are going to work, look at those around you, the person sitting beside you or the opposite of you and try to discover their habits, ideals and everything. You may not notice anything special, but with time, such practices will yield astonishing results. Transmute your day-to-day experience into your speech as form of illustration. As John Locke said, ‘all his knowledge of the human understanding was derived from studying his mind.’
