Preparation: The Art of Getting things done.
I couldn’t stress this enough, what secret to success is there without preparation. Take for example, a student sitting for his exam, without preparation would only guarantee him a failure. You admire those peers of yours who don’t seem to be getting anything less than A? But do you realize how much efforts or preparations they must have been investing on them?
Broadly speaking, with enough preparation, one can command a greater fluency in speech, otherwise if you wish to embarrass yourself with slips of speech, stuttering or ‘mind going blank’ in the midst of your speech, this article can go completely unheeded. Your fluency in speech will be determined solely by how much you know about the subject and the way you are going to deliver it to your audience.
Have you seen those speakers who seem to be able to talk so fluently yet others are not. The key lies in the preparation, as nobody can claim to have known just about everything!
Preparation comes in 2 parts; the first being general preparation which comes from your very own experience; the things that you observe and learn, hear or see. And the second part involves specific knowledge or study. Suppose you were to speak on the subject of ‘Anthropology’, go and check those dictionaries, encyclopedias and books on such subject that sit at the corner of the library.
Thus, to sum up, fluency comes through preparation. With enough preparation, you wouldn’t be settling anything less than mediocrity.
